For My favorite derby prep horse I would look back to last year with Texas Red. I started following the horse just before he won the breeders cup 2yr futurity. I won on him that day at a nice price and continued to follow him. He is a big beautiful horse & I love the desermoux brothers jockey & trainer story. It was the first time I placed a Kentucky derby futures bet. Unfortunately he got an abscess on its huff & had to pull out of the running for the triple crown. I was happy to see him heal & run again later in the summer. This year I have done the same with Nyqvist with him winning for me at the BC and place a futures wager hopefully it will have a better results ending but I always be a fan of Texas Red.

I have a few non champ horses but one that comes to mind is the 4year old filly Itsonlyactingdad out of the Todd Pletcher barn Why? Whenever my 8 year old (at the time) son would go on stage I would get nervous and he would calm me down and say "Its only acting dad!" ..then this horse showed up one day and we follow her progress together. If not for tough competition like Tepin and Lady Eli might have won some stakes races.

My favorite Non-Champion Thoroughbred is Chella. She hasn't raced since early December, but she races around Mahoining Valley, Thistledowns. She has won her last 9 of 10 races, and is 15 for 28 lifetime. Regardless of class level, if you have heart I like you no matter what. Chella has quickly became 1 of my favorite non champ horses. Hopefully she returns to the races sooner than later.
