PREVIEW just now Season 1 Episode 19 Brooke’s story I’m late to the game, but I’ve been binge listening for a couple days . When I reached this episode I was shocked . I understand emotions were high at this point for everyone. However, why attack the person who was finally brave enough to come forward with the truth ? Being and empathetic person is a curse in itself, and you have every right to say I’m not empathetic like you , but why punish someone for having empathy and feelings for someone, it’s not like those feelings kept her from going to the police, she still did the right thing. I don’t think it sat well with the creator or audience that she might get this credit , I’m sorry it doesn’t make sense. If it’s so important that justice is served for Tara, then we should be thanking her, no matter her personal feelings about Bo, because she still did the right thing anyway, I’m sorry but I don’t and won’t get it

Also I do see the frustration in her narrative of playing down what Bo did, but still she deserves credit for coming forward at all

First of all, Brooke came to Payne initially with a Facebook message and then he called her. This was all her choice, she put herself in this podcast. She didn't have to contact him and she didn't have to answer the phone when he called and then continue contacting him. Then when it comes to empathy. Empathy can be a great thing depending on the circumstance but it is an emotional thing. There are also times when empathy can get you in trouble and cloud your perception. Especially when it comes to right and wrong. What Bo did was wrong but Brooke kept making excuses for him because of her empathy for him. Payne tried but there was no getting through to Brooke in that interview. In this crime right and wrong is clear cut, there is no doubt that it is wrong to conceal and burn a body and hold on to that information for 12 years. It's definitely a good thing she came forward and did what was right, but this case is not about her despite her being the tipster, that's something any decent human being would do. She really doesn't deserve that much credit, in many occ asions the case solving tipster remains anonymous. She put herself out there, she could have remained anonymous. I'm not saying that Brooke is a bad person for having so much empathy but it made her biased in favor of Bo and skewed her perception of the big picture in this case. I think it was perfectly reasonable and justified for Payne to call her out in the interviews.

What I want to know is, did she or her mother get the reward money. She is not forthcoming about that information. Payne grills her on a number of things, but not that.
