Adding this to our to-do list. Can you send me a 2 second sample? Please send to firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks.
Hi Chris, 2 second clip on it's way to you by two different methods. Let me know when or if you get it. It's not small.....
Hi picsunder... I got the clip you sent. Videux is able to play it fine on two different machines I tried; plays it quite smoothly. What version of MacOS are you using?
Hi Chris, Using Mac OS 10.14.3 Mojave. When I import clips they have no keyframes in the library panel and when I click on one which puts it in the player I just get a white frame. This happens on two identical machines - MacBook Pro 16GB RAM, SSD etc. As I said plays alright in Da Vinci. I'm quite pleased that you can play it in Videux but I can't. Do you think re-installing Videux would help? Which files do I need to preserve so I don't have to import everything again? TIA Ian
Hi Ian, You should not have to reinstall, and I don't think that would help. But as long as you don't delete your catalog files (or the videos themselves), you won't lose anything by re-installing. What version of Videux are you running? Click Menu -> Videux Pro -> About. Are you using the AS (App Store) of Videux? If so, my guess is that you are running into a sandbox permissions issue. Cheers Chris
Hi Chris - yes I am running the App store version of 1.3 which I believe is the latest. Is there anything we can do about the sandbox thing please? Best wishes Ian
Hi Ian, Ugh, the sandbox. It's very frustrating. Apple requires us to run in the sandbox for App Store apps. We've managed to deal with most of the limitations, but I think there are cases where the sandbox gets reset and we essentially lose permission to access your files. I have not figured out exactly how that occurs or why, but I've had about 3 people who this has happened to. To test and see if this is the issue, try removing (not deleting) and re-adding one or more of the clips. What happens here is that the sandbox recognizes that you (the user) have granted access to these directories. We store that permission token so you should only ever have to do this once. What I think happens is that, in rare cases, the sandbox gets reset and so the tokens we save are no good anymore. Not sure what causes this; maybe renaming the user, or some corporate profile rule, etc. I have yet to actually see it happen on a test machine, but as I said, I think it has happen ed to about 3 of our users. If it happens a lot, I'd recommend going to our DL version, which doesn't have to run in the sandbox. Let me know if that works. Thanks Chris
Hi Chris, well I marked some of the clips with an x, deleted them from the catalog and and then re-added them. I've done this several times, with variations, including re-starting Videux. On a plus point after two goes the clips started showing the poster frames but they still won't play. If I click on a clip the player window shows white and the clip will not play. This is very frustrating Ian
