[original post date 12 November, 2015] An interesting question from the Archives Association of Ontario listserv about how best to digitize daguerrotypes. They are difficult because of high reflection. The suggestion from John Lund at City of Ottawa Archives is to photograph, not scan. He also sent along the following resources for capturing daguerrotypes: Updated Methods for Digitization of Daguerreotypes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzolOGIMS18 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXVyS6Allh0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xXaegBKlZI Discussion at photo.net regarding scanning/photographing Daguerreotypes: http://photo.net/digital-darkroom-forum/00VPDU A Blog from Brown University Library regarding the process used to photograph a daguerreotype: http://library.brown.edu/dps/curio/digitizing-the-mirror-with-a-memory/
