Hello, I am fine. Azmina - Hive is temporarily inactive due to grant limitations. We r planning to extend it though. Currently we are working on developing a model for CVE workshops for the youth in 13 conflict-ridden areas in karachi. Situation here is always unpredictable. Although in international community, the general expression is that Pakistan has got control to countering terrorism.

Maryam, your workshop programme does sound amazing! Maybe you could tell Azmina a little about how they would work? How many participants will there be?

Thanks Melanie. Previously we guaged around 3000 youth as a direct beneficiary in 100 CVE workshops in two areas in Karachi. We keep the model simple and interactive. Social cohesion, conflict resolution, inter-faith and inter-ethnic harmony and peace building are the main themes. We engage participants through various documentaries, live examples and motivational practitioners and speakers. These are all community based workshops. You are welcome Azmina to ask about the program. Later on we also involve the participants in innovative social action projects that they do on voluntarily basis.

That's a shame about grant limitations, Maryam - I'm sure a few members on this forum will be familiar with similar situations! As Melanie says, it would be great to hear some more about the planned CVE workshops. I'm sure we can learn a lot from your methods. (As an aside, I read an interesting article today about the first all-girls' boxing club in Karachi which looks like an incredibly positive force in the community)

wow - I got the time wrong then? I'm sorry as I had been looking forward. We have participated recently in several CVE related events talking about how the health approach to preventing violence can be adapted and applied to CVE. maybe next time I can share more on that.

Oh I'm so sorry for the confusion Karen, must have been unclear in my e-mail! Please feel free to write a summary of the events you have attended and how you think this approach could work in a CVE context, it sounds like a very valuable discussion to have between our esteemed members! Post it here and I'm sure all the members will drop by to give you feedback and talk more :)
