Hey I'm not sure how much time you spend coaching younger or beginning athletes but I thought I read that you do S&C for high schoolers. I'm in the beginning stages of coaching athletes and was wondering if you had any tips for a new coach. Especially how to start teaching kids the lifts.

I do! The best advice I can give is that it doesn't have to be perfect. It just has to be safe. When I start with new teams, the first thing I do is develop a strength base. Once they can do the strength movements well and understand how to brace their cores, we go to Olympic Lifts. We learn how to move from the various positions and I don't get super technical with them. Just show them and they learn along with big picture cues. Something else that I have learned is that they learn best from their peers. Teach the older kids how to lift well and the younger kids will learn best from them. Develop a culture and then nurture it.
