This doesn't seem as a build error. Build errors are normally outputted to the Run console ( View ->Tool Window -> Run , Alt+4 ) when a Gradle task is executed from within IntelliJ. This looks like an IntelliJ warning in the Event Log viewer (View ->Tool Window -> Event Log). It means that IntelliJ can't cache metadata on the Maven repository in order to assist you with features like auto completion while you develop Gradle build scripts. It shouldn't stop you from building the project. This maven repository is where the Gradle plugin that builds the project is downloaded from. I see there's already a related issue opened for that project - [gradle-intellij-plugin issue #112]( and it might be an IntelliJ issue. P.S. Looks like there's a typo in the error message, it should probably be "*nexus*" rather than "*nesus*".
